A late night coffee chain invites those who need to finish their work with a warm cup of Joe. Seattle’s Best Coffee opens at 7:30 a.m., which is pretty unusual in Japan, and closes at 9 p.m., (21:00) every day. This spacious café sits in the area of Sakura Dori in Nara, surrounded by neighboring local businesses. This coffee house originates in– you guessed it! Seattle. In the 1970s, the founder started roasting Arabica coffee using a used peanut roaster at Seattle’s Pier 70 Wet Whisker. Local restaurants in Seattle held a contest for the “Best Coffee in Seattle,” where their coffee took first place. To honor their success, the café changed their company name to “Seattle’s Best Coffee”. Now, you can enjoy a taste of Seattle, even in Japan.

This coffee house serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner, as well as a variety of different coffees. They offer Coffee, Espresso Drinks, Authentic Espresso, Coffee Alternatives, and Java Kula. Some of these options will change depending on the season (we love seasonal menus!). Seattle’s Best Coffee has meal + drink sets. They offer the meal of your choosing with a black coffee. If you want a different type of caffeinated drink, you’ll have to buy it separately. The meal sets only allow for black coffee!

Depending on the season you visit this café in, will determine your specialty drinks! I traveled during the Spring. The popular drinks during that time had strawberries! Seattle’s Best Coffee were selling Strawberry Dark Chocolate Mocha, Strawberry Yogurt Kula, and Strawberry Dark chocolate Kula during the Spring for a limited time. The Yogurt Kulas all have a thick and textured consistency. If you’re ever in Nara, Japan, late at night, the one coffee house you can bet will be open is Seattle’s Best Coffee! And they’ll be waiting for you with a sweet Kula.
