Have you ever been to a café that sits 360 feet up above ground? Skytree Café, located in Shibuya, takes you to new heights, allowing you to admire Japan from high up in the sky! Since the café is part of the Tokyo Skytree, you’ll have to buy a ticket to enter before being able to experience their sweet treats. The Tokyo Skytree is a broadcasting center and observation tower and is the tallest tower in the world, so don’t miss the chance to climb Japan’s highest tower while enjoying a creative and flavorful drink!
This café has drinks that are as whimsical as its view. Skytree Café offers coffee, alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks, soft-serve ice cream, tea, lemonade drinks, and desserts. If you want to feel whimsical while enjoying the view of Shibuya, try one of the lemonade drinks! I tried Butterfly Pea Tea for the first time at this café, and it tasted like sunshine in a cup. The drink was a vibrant pink and blue, blending into a soft purple in the middle. Though, if you’re not a fan, the other lemonades available are Passionfruit Lemonade, Pink Grapefruit Lemonade, and Muscat Lemonade. Each of these lemonades contains bright colors that look as good as they taste!
For the main attraction: Coffee! Skytree Café has only six options for caffeinated lovers (seven if you count matcha latte), but they’re still great! This sky-high coffee shop sells coffee, cafe latte, soy latte, cappuccino, soy cappuccino, and their specialty latte– Sky Tree latte. A sweet treat you can buy to go along with your cup of Joe is sugar donuts. If you want something softer than that, try a soft serve. Skytree café offers Sky Soft; chocolate, caramel, or raspberry sauce topping can be added.
If you want to feel high somewhere high, some alcoholic beverages Skytree Café offers include Beer, Sparkling Wine, Cuba Libre, Pineapple Cocktail, and Lemon Lychee Cocktail. Those contain an alcohol content of 3.5 to 5%, but they do sell beverages with an alcohol content as low as 0.1%. The lower alcohol content drinks are Lychee Blue and Peach Oolong. Be mindful of how much you drink, as Tokyo Skytree has 29 floors! The tower stands at 2,080 feet, and the elevator rises surprisingly quickly! Their shuttle elevators can carry people 1,000 feet up in less than a minute! Next time you’re in Japan, stop by Skytree Café to drink your coffee with a view.
