Get a taste of Cuba without booking a flight! Located in Lehigh Acres, Azúcar is a cozy Cuban cafe, with foods and pastries engulfed in authentic flavors from the island. Stepping into this cafe feels like you’ve just walked inside of a cuban restaurant in Miami. Azúcar is loud, with music videos playing on the TV, and the baristas/waitresses talking to everyone who comes in– it feels exactly as if I had traveled back to my home-city. As soon as you walk in you’re greeted by enthusiastic baristas and you’re free to sit anywhere you’d like. One noticeable pro I quickly learned about (my several visits) to Azúcar is the RAPID service. My order is on the table a few minutes after putting it in. On a sleepy morning, it’s the perfect wake-me-up with laughter, music, chatter, and tough coffee.
If you’re looking for a cafe with great food, pastries, and EXTREMELY POWERFUL coffee that will keep you awake for the night at a great price– look no further, because Azúcar is exactly that place. This cafe offers breakfast, sandwiches, appetizers, entrees, beef, pork, seafood, chicken, azúcar’s favorites, and of course–coffee. Most of the items on their menu are very affordable. The only pricey foods on the menu is seafood– as would be expected. Their breakfast menu ranges from $5-$7, which is economical, given the amount of food you receive. For example– Their Azúcar Breakfast consists of three eggs fried or scrambled with ham or bacon, and an empanada for only $4.95! As you can see from the photo down below, I ordered a Tuna Salad Sandwich which consists of tuna (duh!), mayo, lettuce, tomatoes, and onions on Cuban bread for only $6.50!
Since Azúcar is so close to my boyfriend’s house, I come to this cafe quite a bit for a quick pick-me-up and it wakes me up immediately. Azúcar opens at 7am and closes at 8pm everyday, besides Sunday! Something important to note is that the barista’s don’t normally go by espresso shots, which is pretty common for Cuban restaurants and cafe’s, so when you order a cafe con leche, you should let them know whether you want it dark or light. The darker, the stronger (which is what we like to see!), the lighter, the milkier. Or you can just order a cafe con leche without specific requests and let them work their magic. No matter what, it will be a strong coffee guaranteed (and worth it). So, the next time you want a coffee for both quantity and quality– make your way over to Azúcar cafe and give Cuba a taste!
