Brewed and Sealed

Tucked in the heart of downtown L.A., Kumquat Coffee is known for its breakfast burritos, so much so that it was nominated as one of the best in the city. And after trying one, it’s easy to see why! Not only are their burritos tasty, but their coffee deserves an award, too. With a seal as their mascot, Kumquat Coffee knows how to seal the deal on a perfect cup. Get there early—this café fills up fast, and while there aren’t many tables, there are cute, bright red waiting seats to cozy up on.

The Burrito Awards

Let’s talk about those burritos! When I say get there early, I really mean it. I showed up just an hour or two after they opened, and I snagged the last vegan breakfast burrito. They’ve got a variety of options: turkey sausage, bacon, potato, vegan, and even a mini bean & cheese burrito. These delicious burritos definitely live up to the hype. They left me full and satisfied for almost half the day. If you’re worried about missing out, Kumquat Coffee also offers online ordering so that you can grab your burrito ahead of time.

Unique Coffees

This might change by the time you read this, but their limited drink of the month is the Maldives Cooler! Their coffee menu includes classics like drip, espresso, americano, macchiato, cortado, cappuccino, flat white, and café latte. They offer some unique specialties, like the New England, Tennessee, single-origin mocha, Kumquat tonic, and Cloudy. They also serve a selection of lattes, including matcha latte, ceremonial matcha latte, hojicha latte, golden latte, and turmeric latte. Oat, soy, and coconut milk are available as alternative options!

Stop By!

Even though this popular café can get crowded, the baristas make an effort to connect with customers, always maintaining a friendly and cheerful atmosphere. The baristas asked if it was my first time in LA. When I said yes, one of them insisted we return the next day because he’d put together a list of must-see spots—and he kept his promise. The following morning, he handed us a list of great places to check out around the city. Kumquat Coffee is open Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m., and on Saturdays, they open at 8 a.m. and close at 3 p.m. Don’t miss out—be sure to pay them a visit!
