Finding a café in the United States that opens before 8 a.m. can be fairly easy. However, in Japan, it can be a challenge to find one that opens before 11 a.m.! If you’re accustomed to drinking your caffeine bright and early (like I am), Sentido Specialty Coffee in Kyoto, opens at 7:30 a.m.! Despite drinking espresso, this snug café makes you feel calm from its neutral color palette inside. Sentido Coffee also offers a vegan treat, carrot cake, and of course– dairy-free milk. They offer oat and soy milk. I ordered an oat milk latte with a green curry hot sandwich, and even their dishes matched the aesthetic of their café!

Sentido Coffee thought of every demographic when choosing their drinks– not only do they serve espresso and tea, but they also serve beer! This café offers Espresso, Americano, Cafe Latte, Cafe Mocha, French Press, Pour Over, Hot Chocolate, Beer, Black Tea, Herb Tea, Fruit Juice, Sparkling Fruit Juice, Ginger Ale, Smoothie, and Coffee Parfait. For meals, Sentido Coffee gives you the option to order it as a set or by itself. With a set, you get your food with a black coffee, but when you order the meal by itself, you’re free to choose any drink you’d like. If you have a busy day ahead of you and want some food, they offer Toast, Muffins, Banana Bread, Hot Sandwich, Green Curry Hot Sandwich, and Granola. Of course, you’re able to make any of those into a set.

It’s not often you get to use a debit or credit card in Japan, but this modern and minimalistic café takes it! Not only do they sell drinks and food, but Sentido also sells a variety of coffee beans from different countries around the world. Some of their products include beans from El Salvador, Ethiopia, and Indonesia. They’re located near the Museum of Kyoto, so if you’re ever in the area, stop by Sentido Specialty Coffee, where they pour their heart into each drop of coffee.
